Mr. Hazem Badran


Hazem has more than 15 years of experience in corporate finance and investment banking in the MENA region. Hazem has played a significant role in turning around CI Capital to be the premium investment bank in Egypt since he joined in January 2013. Since then, CI Capital has won the "Best Investment Bank in Egypt" award by EMEA finance and Global Finance for two consecutive years, 2013-14. Prior to joining CI Capital Hazem had a nine-year career at EFG-Hermes, where he played a notable role as a senior executive in growing the EFG franchise into the largest investment bank in the MENA region. Hazem held numerous key positions at EFG Hermes including CEO of EFG Hermes for the Levant, and Managing Director for Investment Banking.
Hazem holds a BA in business administration from the Arab Academy for Science and Technology and has successfully attended the Investment Appraisal, Project Finance and Risk Analysis Program at the Harvard Institute for International Development.
Hazem sits on the board of Directors of CI Capital Holding, CorpLease, as well as Maridive Oil Services; a listed oil services group.

Mr. Mahmoud Attalla

CI Capital Group Chief Executive Officer, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors

Mahmoud began his career in banking in 1977, when he joined Arab African International Bank (AAIB), rising to become Deputy General Manager and Group Treasurer before leaving after a 20-year run to join HSBC Securities Egypt, where he was Managing Director. Mahmoud was later Vice Chairman of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) from 2004 until June 2007. An elected member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), he is also Honorary Chairman of both the Cairo FOREX Association and the INTERARAB CAMBIST Association.

Mahmoud’s track record includes establishing and managing the first international dealing room in Egypt as well as the first international securities brokerage house in Egypt, which he led to become the third-ranked firm in the business. Throughout his career, he has participated in training initiatives at HSBC London, UBS London, JP Morgan, Marine Midland Bank London, Merrill Lynch London and Al-BAAB Bahrain. A lifelong supporter of Al-Ahly, Mahmoud is a passionate supporter of the privatization of Egyptian sports clubs. .

Mr. Tarek Tantawy

Board Member representing CI Capital

Tarek brings more than 17 years of financial and leadership experience to CI Capital team. During his career he has successfully led companies to sales growth, business expansion, operational efficiency, and significant profitability. Tarek brings the experience and expertise to meet these challenges through a proven record of operational leadership, strategy development, team building, financial management and relationship management.

Prior to joining CI Capital Tarek held several senior roles in leading Egyptian companies including CEO and Managing Director of Telecom Egypt, VP& CFO Telecom Egypt, CFO of IDJ-Beyti (a JV of Almarai & Pepsico), Vice President in the investment banking division of Sigma capital and Senior Consultant in the corporate finance division of FinRate Consulting. During his career, Tarek has led the execution of several landmark equity and debt transactions including the privatization of Telecom Egypt through an international IPO (c. US$ 900mn), acquisition of a 45% stake in Vodafone Egypt (c. US$ 1bn) in addition to raising more than 1.5 billion US$ though local and international markets through bond offerings and syndicated loans. Tarek was also responsible for managing a portfolio of investments in excess of EGP 15bn. He was also involved in several corporate restructuring and successful turn-around assignments of several companies in Egypt in the telecom, IT and FMCG sectors.

Tarek has served on several boards for publically listed and private companies including Telecom Egypt, Vodafone Egypt, IDJ-Beyti, TE Data and Technology Development Fund. Tarek Holds a BSc. In construction engineering from the American university in Cairo, an MBA from Edinburgh Business School in the UK and he is also a CFA charterholder. Tarek has also attended executive education programs in Kellogg Graduate School of Management in the USA and IESA Business School in Spain.

Mr. Omar Mohanna

Board Member representing CI Capital

Omar Mohanna is Chairman of Suez Cement Group of Companies (SCGC), the leading cement producer in Egypt and a subsidiary of the German Multinational Group Heidelberg Cement AG, one of the world leading cement producers. SCGC is comprised of Suez Cement Co., Tourah Portland Cement Co., Helwan Cement Co., and Suez Bags Co, and has as subsidiaries ten other cement related companies and operations in Egypt and the region.

Mohanna is also Chairman of the Alexandria Tire Company (ATCO), the largest tire producer in Egypt, and a subsidiary of the multinational tire manufacturer Pirelli. He is also Chairman of Chubb Insurance Co. Egypt, and Chairman of Chubb Life Insurance Co. Egypt. Both companies are subsidiaries of the US multinational insurance group Chubb formerly ACE. Mohanna is also member of the Board of Directors of the investment banking Firm CI Capital.

Mohanna’s over 25 years of commercial and investment banking experience with Egyptian and international financial institutions has culminated in the position of Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Egypt Arab African Bank (EAAB). He also held the position of Managing Director of Accor Hotels Group in Egypt and has been a member of the Board of Directors of diverse companies.

Mohanna is active in a number of organizations serving the interests of the business community in Egypt. He is the Past President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt (AmCham Egypt) and is currently member of AmCham Egypt's Board of Governors. Mohanna is also Chairman of the Egypt-US Business Council and is a member of the Italian Egyptian Business Council and the German Egyptian Business Council. He is also a member of the French Egyptian Chamber of Commerce in Egypt, the Egyptian Businessmen Association, and Egypt's International Economic Forum. At the broader community level, he is a Board member of the Association for the Protection of the Environment, as well as member of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Relations. As an economist, industrialist and active member of the business community, Mohanna has brought his knowledge and expertise to bear at the policy level. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) and is Chairman of FEI’s International Relations Committee. He is also a member of the General Assembly of the Holding Company for Roads, Bridges and Land Transport Projects (Ministry of Transport). He is as well a member of the Building Materials Export Council (Ministry of Trade and Industry).

In addition, Mohanna is Chairman of the Egyptian Center for Economic Studies (ECES).

Mr. Tarek Azmy

Board Member

Tarek Azmy has broad-based domestic, regional and international banking and leasing experience extending over 30 years. Tarek was previously with Chase National Bank in Egypt. Since 1991 he was based in London with the NBK Group in Global Institutional Banking. In 1996 Mr. Azmy moved to the CIT Group and was a board member of CIT's subsidiary leasing companies in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Russia (based in London).
Tarek is one of the very few Egyptian leasing professionals who gained their leasing experience in the international markets. After returning to Egypt in 2000, Mr. Azmy was heavily involved in the planning, due diligence, private equity rounds, formation and start of business of CORPLEASE EGYPT. Tarek is a founding shareholder, board member and Managing Director of the company.

Mr. Sudhir Amembal

Independent Board Member

Sudhir P. Amembal is Chairman and CEO of Amembal & Halladay. He began his professional career in lease education, consulting and publications by co-founding Amembal & Isom in 1978, the first entity in the world to serve the global leasing industry.

Entities under his stewardship became the world’s most highly respected training and consulting firms in the field of equipment leasing. These entities have trained over 75,000 leasing professionals throughout the world. Mr. Amembal has conducted technical presentations on leasing in over 80 countries. As a government advisor, Mr. Amembal has spearheaded lease consultancy engagements conducted on behalf of over 20 governments including China, Indonesia, Korea, and Nigeria. These engagements required him to review the overall leasing industry in each country and devise strategic recommendations to facilitate the growth of the industry.

He has chaired each of the annual World Leasing Conventions from 1993 to date. He is the organizer of the annual Operating Lease Conference — the only conference entirely dedicated to operating leases. He is also the co-organizer of the annual China Leasing Forum.

For a period of five years from 1997 to 2002, Mr. Amembal was Chairman of Amembal Capital Corporation, a middle market leasing company. Prior to 1978, he was a member of the faculty at the College of Business, University of Utah, prior to which he worked with Ernst & Young in New York City.

He has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Bombay, an M.B.A. from the University of Utah, and is a CPA, qualified to practice in New York. He is the founder and President of Animal Advisory and the co-founder and CEO of Animals India.
